VIOLENCE OCCURS AT THE CULMINATION OF LONGSTANDING UNMET NEEDS

LET US HAVE PEACE.

OUR MISSION

To build Peace and reduce gun violence in Oklahoma City.

HOW WE GET THERE

Highly skilled PeaceMakers work along the following model to identify, intervene, and support individuals in leading healthy lives.

  • Data-driven and community-level informed identification of the groups and individuals at the very highest risk of being involved in a shooting.

  • Respectful and direct communication requesting cessation of violence and offer of support to individuals and groups at risk of violence conducted by a professionally trained interventionist or “PeaceMaker.”

  • Trust and relationship-driven facilitation of access to services, support, and opportunities that address the needs and build on the strengths of those at the highest risk of violence by PeaceMakers. Services and supports are most effective when given by respected and trusted community members with similar lived experiences or are otherwise credible to the target population.

A Mesage From Our CEO, Lyn Jackson

“It is my belief that every community deserves safety, dignity and second chances. As a founding board member and now CEO, I have seen firsthand how this organization changes lives by helping people step out of cycles of violence, providing opportunities, holding up families amidst tragedy, and bringing hope where many have given up. Our goal is not perfection or visibility, but real impact in communities that are often overlooked. This work requires partnership—and we are so grateful to our partners who have stood with us to help ensure the people and the communities we serve receive what they need. Together, we will reduce violence. We will create new positive cycles. And we will help people heal.”
